My Home Vet is a home-visit veterinary service in Huddersfield, offering appointments in pets’ own surroundings rather than requiring a trip to a practice. Recent feedback focuses on routine visits such as boosters, health checks and nail clipping, as well as a notable number of end-of-life appointments carried out at home. Owners often say pets are calmer during home visits, although experiences of home euthanasia are not uniformly positive.
Services
•Routine home visits: vaccinations including booster jabs, health checks / “full medical” appointments, and nail clipping are all mentioned.
•Home examination and assessment: recent feedback includes a thorough assessment at home, with discussion of options and review of the pet’s clinical history during the visit.
•End-of-life care at home: euthanasia visits are frequently discussed in reviews, including appointments where families were given time, reassurance and space before and after the pet passed.

•Many owners value the convenience and lower stress of home visits, especially for booster vaccinations, health checks and nail clipping.
•Reviews often mention prompt arrival, communication about timing, and gentle handling, with pets described as staying relaxed in familiar surroundings.
•Home euthanasia is a major theme in recent feedback. Several families describe kind, respectful and unhurried care, including time to hold their pet, involve children, or let other pets say goodbye.
•There is also a serious negative review about an end-of-life visit, centred on poor continuity between vets and distress during sedation, so this aspect of the service has not been experienced consistently.

From the first contact yesterday morning to our home visit yesterday afternoon veterinary nurse Sarah and vet Maaike were amazing.
They provided us with the reassurance we needed, talked through potential options, agreed to examine Ralph and read his clinical history (at my request) prior to arriving. They provided a thorough assessment, a very much needed (for our reassurance) second opinion and gently talked us through the process of having our lovely Ralph put to sleep. We weren’t rushed, we were treated respectfully with no judgement. They showed kindness and respect throughout all the contact we had.
We couldn’t have wished for a more peaceful passing for Ralph. A little flinch (I mean little flinch) when he had the first injection to sedate him - no distress at all. We then had time with him, were able to hold him and be with him whilst he fell to sleep which took around five minutes. He showed no signs of awareness for the final injection and passed away calmly and peacefully, at home, in his bed with the people I hope he knew loved him very very much by his side. I am honestly so thankful and taken a back that such an awful time was made as dignified as it was. I cannot describe how peaceful this was for Ralph and us. Being able to tell the children he was at home and that it was peaceful made the upsetting news that little bit easier for them to hear.
As hard as it is to write this so soon after the event - I felt it important to share our experience for anyone else who may be going through such a difficult time.
Thank you so much.
Kirsty and family xx

So kind and understanding. I wouldn't have wanted our pet rabbit Freddie to be euthanised any other way except at home. The 2 ladies who visited were so understanding and caring and made his passing comfortable and respectful. Thank you so much.

We sadly had to say goodbye to our darling girl Rayne recently, and we wanted her to pass at home as she's never been a fan of the vets. Although the process was heartbreaking, the compassion shown to our girl in her final moments is something we will never forget. We were given 5 minutes with our girl after she'd passed so our other dogs could come and say their goodbyes. Highly recommended.

Had my first visit from My Home Vet this morning. I couldn't be happier. They turned up promptly keeping me posted on their arrival. My four year old Cockapoo, Rupert, thought two nice people had come to play with him and admire his toys. He was completely unaware that he had a full medical and his booster jab. So much easier than the dreaded vet trip. Having given up driving recently this service is really helping ne.

I really don’t know how this company has got such high rated reviews.
My experience was awful and it has left me mentally scarred.
My little gentle dog that was in the end stages of CHF.
I didn’t want him euthanised at the vet, so I read the reviews and decided on this company.
I booked the euthanasia appointment but when it got close, I couldn’t do it, so I had a health check done in my home (he had already been to Donaldsons on the Monday) this was the Thursday. The young vet who came gave advice to check his breathing rate at rest and not to exercise him at all, due to how poorly he was.
Over that weekend he was struggling breathing and had a lot of oxygen from home as I had bought bottles for him.
So with deepest regret I book the appointment for the Tuesday morning.
When the vet arrived it was a different one and obviously there had been no communication between them, as she walked in, my precious boy went to say hello even though he was struggling to breathe .
She turned to me and said ‘are you sure you want to do this’ I had to explain all the symptoms he was having and how he had been on so much medication for the last 3 years and he now couldn’t lay down to sleep or rest in any way. Which broke me as NO I did not want to do it, I had keep him extremely poorly for far too long and Donaldsons vets were getting very concerned for him.
She said she would give a sedative with pain relief and he would feel a slight sting.
WELL a slight sting, he screamed so loud which seemed to go on and on and I was sobbing into his tiny head
She said do you want me to stay as his breathing will become erratic. I said no, as I didn’t want to be near her let alone my little boy
His breathing was awful luckily I had oxygen to give him and then she was back to finish the job.
I have been left with the thought that his last moment on this earth were of pain and me sobbing saying I’m so sorry
Beware who you choose for you beloved pets
As I am absolutely distraught and I will NEVER get over this

Had to let my fur baby go and the 2 ladies that came was wonderful gave me time, compassion and reassurance through such a sad and difficult time. Helped my pooch to her final sleep surrounded by love and care in her own home. Highly recommend tho at same time hope you never need them for this 😭 xx

Fantastic vets would highly recommend them, my dog Reggie wasn’t a happy bunny having his nails clipped. But job done and he’s well happy. 🤩
